Thomas P.M. Barnett (Part 1 of 3)

Dr. Thomas P.M. Barnett is a military grand strategist who is well-known inside the defense community. Since 9/11, he has regularly been giving briefings to decisionmakers, people from the Defense Department to the US military to the business world and to leaders from around the globe.

This is a shorter 30-minute version of that same PowerPoint brief.

If you're interested in ideas for defeating terrorism and managing global conflict which aren't corrupted by partisan politics, then listen in and read his blog.

Thanks for sharing Jeff, Thomas is a seasoned Global Security guru, this first 10 mins didn't get to his offerings on solutions for defeating terrorism, I assume that comes later. I found his remarks on the growth of the international financial architecture being at the expense of international security architecture very interesting. This was certainly thrust in the face of policy makers post 9/11 as was the fixation on China.

Bit of humour thrown in when discussing Globalisation connectivity into traditional societies ... Barbie verses Sarah!

Thanks for bringing this talented individual to my attention, his weblog at: http://www.thomaspmbarnett.com/weblog/ is worth a visit too...

Barnett's The Pentagon's New Map: Blue Print For Action is a must read for anyone with an even passing interest in global affairs.

Subadei---Yes, I have heard that before, and that is one of the reasons I picked it up. I hope to get to Barnett's book within a few weeks. Thanks.
